Nose: Funky and vegetal at first, before someone spills TCP. Almond milk, cinnamon and salty preserved lemons are cooking over a flame.
Palate: Reminiscent of horchata – grainy in texture, with a body of cinnamon-laced sweet, starchy rice milk. A medicinal iodine character blows about, before you get stuck into a pack of Parma Violets.
Finish: Sweet, salty and wrapped in bandages, along with cabbage soup.
Comment: The peaty medicine box is balanced by creamy characters, but vegetal quirk marks it down.
Score: 7.5
Taster
Nose: Strawberries and cream. Slightly mealy before moving onto some leafy and grassy qualities. Digestive biscuits. Not hugely forthcoming to be honest.
Palate: Malty grassiness at the core of it all, with oranges, hazelnuts and ground almonds. A little oak on show, though not much. Spicy, with traces of ash.
Finish: Short, with a splash of oaky Chardonnay and Malted Milk biscuits.
Comment: Summery stuff. But feels like a questionable cask was involved somewhere.
Score: 7.4
