Rather aggressive for a malt that is usually delicate and sweet, but still very distinctive. Will stand softening with a good splash of water.
Rare Malts Selection
1977, 23 Years Old
Nose: Straw, grass, lemongrass.
Palate: Light, oily. Dry. Bamboo-like woodiness. Some vanilla smoothness after a few minutes in the glass. Aromatic. Exotic.
Finish: Grassy again. Hot. Chillies.
Comment: Rather aggressive for a malt that is usually delicate and sweet, but still very distinctive. Will stand softening with a good splash of water.
Nose: Delicate and summery but with guts. Aromatic nose: lemon, icing sugar, almond slice, vanilla, red fruit and with water basil leaf/anise.
Palate: Light to medium bodied. Floral with a sweetly attractive start but good texture mid-palate.
Finish: Strawberries then dry and malty.
Comment: Delicate yet complex.
