Glenury Royal Distillery (Closed 1985)
ABV: 58.4%
Age: 28 Years Old
Style: Single Malt
Country: Scotland
Region: Highland
Overall
Score
8.2
Nose
Fresh and briny, younger than its great age. A delicate hint of sherry adds extra weight, as does a wisp of smoke.
Palate
Fat and fabulously textured: acacia honey and fruity maltiness. A subtle peatiness adds an extra, unexpected dimension.
Finish
Enormously long and increasingly spicy. Great complexity of vanilla, peat and enormous malt richness.
Comment
Unquestionably the finest Glenury I have tasted in 20 years and extraordinary for its age. Among the best low-peated Rare Malt bottlings of all time.
