Tasting Notes

Dave Broom

Taster

Nose: A mellow, softly complex nose, mixing sweet fruits, dried grassy notes, sandalwood, bourbon, biscuits, beech nut and with water a fungal/mushroom note along with cinnamon, vanilla, apple and sultana.

Palate: As smooth as silk, rich and elegant with a huge range of rich flavours and a light nuttiness which counterbalances the soft fruits.

Finish: Spicy, long.

Comment: A stunningly good blend.

Taster

Nose: Poached apricots in crème anglaise. Then dark chocolate pralines, with hazelnuts.

Palate: Gingery. Lively. Creamy. Very sherryish.

Finish: Fragrant smokiness, and oakiness.

Comment: After dinner, I would usually think of a malt, but have long enjoyed the unashamed luxuriousness of this blend. This example seems fractionally less voluptuous than I remember, but my memories may be teasing me.
