Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Massively fruity up front. Blackcurrant compote, dark forest honey and lashings of buttercream and vanilla.

Palate: Roasted pine nuts with a little exotic spice. Ginger cake slathered with buttercream and blackcurrant jam. All-butter shortbread with fondant and milk chocolate, sprinkled with crushed hazelnuts.

Finish: The sweetness dries out slowly leaving dry roasted peanuts and a hint of spice.

Comment: A well-put-together blend with plenty of interesting layers of flavour.

Score: 8.3

Taster

Nose: Sweetness of strawberry jam, crushed pistachios and stewed prunes. Meringues, nectar honey and gorse flowers. A massive bowl of fruit salad.

Palate: Hello fruit salad. Add in some crushed cumin seeds, herbs and a Bombay spice mix. All the nuts basically. A buttery texture emerges with sugar-coated beignets too.

Finish: The buttery consistency dries out the palate very quickly to allow a nuttiness to dominate.

Comment: If whiskies could be a film character – the Nutty Professor.
