Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Pungent but polished aromas of light earth, mature oak with hints of violet, light honey, liquid orange, apricot and white fruit. It takes awhile to open but when it does it shows a beautiful complexity of sawdusty aged oak and youthful vanillins.

Palate: The palate is quite grippy and opens with some dusty tannins along with a touch of citrus, apricot and vanilla. It needs some water, which brings out the oils and herbal notes.

Finish: Mouth-watering and generously spicy.

Comment: Lovely and mature, beyond its age statement.

Score: 8.8

Taster

Nose: Orange blossom and grilled muscovado sugar over pink grapefruit. Jelly and saffron with a hint of copper coin.

Palate: Mixed peel and exotic spice. It reminded me of mohair jumpers stored in a wooden chest, with camphor.

Finish: A rich and embracing texture like tweed.

Comment: A lovely balance of warmth and perfume, it feels older than its age.
