Intriguing, but a little too much imposed sweetness for my taste.
Signatory Straight from the Cask
Aged 11 Years, Port Finish
Nose: Red wine, stewed fruit, delicate wood smoke.
Palate: Initially very dry and intense, but soon becomes remarkably sweet, even reminiscent of a hot toddy for a few seconds.
Finish: More of the dryness returns, but still sweet-cherry-flavoured cough lozenges dominates.
Comment: Intriguing, but a little too much imposed sweetness for my taste.
Nose: The colour of onion skin. Fragrant perfumed smoke. Quite light. Cigar smoke mixing with sea shell, sloe, strawberry, travel sweets, a floral note.
Palate: Bone dry (oak and soot). A touch of seaweed. A fizzy fruitiness in the middle.
Finish: Great: sweet red fruits balance dry smoke.
Comment: Good, but seems to come in different sections rather than a complete package.
