Nose: Light and slightly numb. Wet stones, thrift flowers, herbs, smoke.
Palate: Dry and unyielding. Those herbs again, some almond and a light maritime character.
Finish: Short.
Comment: Not sufficient drive being given by the cask.
Score: 6.5
Taster
Nose: A walk across the grassy dunes to a clean beach in a light, fresh breeze.
Palate: Teasing balance of sweet, creamy maltiness and salty, savoury, vegetal flavours. After the walk, warming soup.
Finish: Peppery dry. Bring on the cullen skink.
Comment: What a distinctive malt Brora was, and there are some excellent bottlings available.
Score: 8.8
