I have a vague family connection with the original Stronachie Distillery. Good to see the name back. A good aperitif.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Appealing: malty (green malt), dry bracken with sweet fruit and nut notes. Dry bracken.

Palate: Good, firm attack: toasted nuts, malt but with sufficient toffee sweetness to keep things interesting.

Finish: Medium length, pecan, fruit.

Comment: I have a vague family connection with the original Stronachie Distillery. Good to see the name back. A good aperitif.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: A heathery moorland.

Palate: Deft interplay of slightly syrupy, malty, sweetness and very restrained peaty dryness.

Finish: Warming, soothing.

Comment: On principle, I have misgivings about private bottlings of unidentified malts, but this is an excellent dram.
