Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Banana milkshake, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the top. Sweet and fun, with penny sweet foam prawns finishing this sweet-shop nose.\nPalate: The palate

Palate: The palate is a little more robust with some woody notes and a great hit of cherry cola sweetness right in the middle. It is well-balanced but not \nto be filed under ‘fireside dram’.

Finish: There is a hint of spice here, with more white flowers and white chocolate dipped strawberries.

Comment: Easy to drink, this is a proper slugger of a Scotch.

Score: 8.5

Taster

Nose: The oak is a focal point here with vanilla, wheat flakes and rye-like herbal notes. The grain component adds a little freshness and allows a light apricot and sweet apple note to appear.

Palate: Oak, oak, oak and yet more oak! Buttery and creamy with no shortage of Bourbon/rye-like character. The grain fights its way through eventually.

Finish: Long and guess what? Oaky! Grainy spice at the very end.

Comment: There appears to be a lot of first-fill American oak here and is a lesson on how influencing it can be.
