Nose: Fragrant. A distant marine aroma. Peppery. Hint of smoke. But it is more dominated by oak. Raisins. Toffee.
Palate: Sweet and somewhat flat at mid palate. The palate is in tune with the nose. A slight salty feel like salted butter fudge.
Finish: Sweet and short.
Comment: Disappointing for a Talisker. The port finish takes it off the shore.

Taster
Nose: Plum jam, a hint of citrus and chocolate. There are bonfire notes, hot stone baked bread. Almost a fresh printer's ink note.
Palate: Sweet cured herring with beetroot and roast chilli peppers. Very viscous with tinned mandarins. The smoke starts to become more apparent in time.
Finish: Short with hints of mocha coffee.
Comment: The additional maturation has amplified a sweet side to this islander. Not a bad thing either.
Score: 8
