Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Soft, fresh-churned butter, scones, clotted cream and high fruit content strawberry jam. It just gets fruitier.

Palate: Again plenty of fruit here, apples in golden syrup, chocolate-coated red cherries. Hints of honey flapjacks and those creamy buttery biscuit notes from the nose come in.

Finish: Fresh and reviving, a slow burner in a very good way.

Comment: That ABV is well hidden, but this one leads you straight into the orchard.

Score: 8.5

Taster

Nose: Without water it’s particularly shy, though there are hints of sticky toffee sauce, almond croissants, cinnamon and stem ginger peeking through as well.

Palate: Riesen chocolate chews swimming in more of that thick toffee sauce. Rich red fruits in morello cherries and blackcurrant juice, with an earthy, almost liquorice bass note supplemented by dry, toasted oak.

Finish: Toffee and treacle tart with a nicely burnt crust.

Comment: Weighty and decadent, it’s a beast of a whisky.
