Impressive nose and then the palate takes you in a different direction. Lovely engaging dram though.

Nose: Leather notebooks, a light sherry note, old walking boots (in a comforting way), grape must, chocolate raisins, milk chocolate praline. An autumn leaf edge, wood smoke, brambles.
Palate: Coating and sweet, a little powdered coal soot then spices play on the tongue. Spiced apples and pears, cinnamon, powdered ginger.
Finish: Dries with a warming note
Comment: Impressive nose and then the palate takes you in a different direction. Lovely engaging dram though.

Nose: Cedary/cigar box notes, with a very pleasant wood smoke underneath with a salted caramel/vanilla note easing through. Absolutely lovely.
Palate: A little ashy, leading into vanilla, some milk chews and drying oak some very faint fresh orchard fruit notes, lacking the smokiness I was expecting.
Finish: Lingering dryness settles in.
Comment: The nose leads the way with, a very fine balance, then the palate takes you somewhere else.
Score: 8.3
