Nose: Oaky. Resinous with a eucalyptus note. Sappy. Quite unusual.
Palate: weet and round. Lots of vanilla and syrup. Very smooth for this high strength. Liquorice and a hint of toffee. Water brings out a fizzy sensation with pepper.
Finish: Sweet and dusty. The feel of cocoa powder. A grassy aftertaste.
Comment: Quite an unusual taste. Fresh and surprisingly sweet.

Taster
Nose: Some fresh herbs (bay and fennel) a touch of dark chocolate orange, ginger and fragrant hand cream.
Palate: Dark brown sugar (seems to be a running theme today!), soft stewed fruit, browned melted butter and a drying oakiness.
Finish: The oak begins to take hold swiftly, with a faint note of the soft fruit developing too.
Comment: Pleasant and well balanced, just the right amount of sweetness and light, mixed with a darker undertone.
Score: 8.1
