Tasting Notes

Martine Nouet

Taster

Nose: Balsamic. Resinous. Those pine notes give way to some fruit. Peaches poached in a vanilla syrup. A hint of fudge in the back. Some mint too.

Palate: Satin soft. Sweet, nearly sugary. A bit bland. Alcohol is well mastered.

Finish: Sweet with a light astringency.

Comment: The palate does not deliver as much as the nose. Lacks character

Taster

Nose: Pure melted butter, a little soft caramel, Werther's Originals, a touch of wet hay, a little waft of smoke and fermented orchard fruits.

Palate: Ashy and sooty at first, followed by a sweet, buttery richness. The smoke is restrained, with the ember/sootiness taking precedence.

Finish: Drying smoked oak and a hint of vanilla.

Comment: A whisky with a very defined character. This has a very fatty nose and a rich palate. It's almost the fry up of the whisky world. Tuck in...
