Taster

Nose: Seriously mature and spicy with plenty of herbal dried grainy fruit and soft oak. Beautifully crisp and evocatively spicy with a light rum-like demeanour and hints of toasted vanilla and burnt wood.

Palate: A crisp and grainy start leads into liquorice, molasses and rummy dried fruit. Multi-layered and gorgeous, with a touch of silky vanilla and toasty oak on the middle.

Finish: Citric and spicy with a touch of drying tannins, but the sweet fruit lingers.

Comment: Perfectly balanced with poise and elegance. A must-buy!

Score: 9.2

Taster

Nose: A soft and well-balanced grain whisky, this gives sweet elements of brown sugar, some vanilla and toasted almonds with a big hit of chocolate praline.

Palate: More sweetness appears on the palate, with apricots, honey and some more of the white nuttiness coming through. There are also some light fruit cake notes and sultanas.

Finish: The sultana notes grow, as do the apricots.

Comment: A lovely, fruity number. I’d have a dram for sur
