Taster

Nose: Massively bourbony; a roasty, slightly nutty-sweet, cocoa-dry aroma. Fascinating sub-strata of bamboo shoots and malt. Big and complex.

Palate: Aged from the off: very dry oaky tones and roast malt. Very chewy.

Finish: Sweetens drastically with toffee-vanilla and some fading coffee on the long, tapering finish.

Comment: An enormous whisky which hangs together impressively for its great age.

Score: 8

Nose: Rhododendrons. Cereal-grain nuttiness but also sherry. Linseed oil on a cricket bat.

Palate: Fruit, raisins, fudge, cream.

Finish: Well balanced with a light oak dryness.

Comment: Slightly woody in aroma, but develops nicely.
