Nose: Straight off we are in a rose garden in summer, heady and floral, a touch of earthy. Turkish Delight and milk chocolate pennies, a little cinnamon spice, Big Red chewing gum.
Palate: Malty notes emerge first, like a cup of warming malt and milk drink. Chocolate and caramel sauce. Pepper spice lurks but is held by the sweetness.
Finish: Silky and smooth, caramel and milk chocolate slowly fade leaving a touch of cracked black pepper at the end.
Comment: A well-defined drop with signs of well-nurtured ageing.
Score: 8.9
Taster
Nose: White chocolate Caramac and newly polished leather with added notes of hot bitter orange marmalade and pine sap. Rosemary sprigs and definite hints of Pledge furniture polish and cranberries.
Palate: Dried fruits and smooth peanut butter. A jar full of dried herbs, clementine peel and roasted pistachios with damp bark. Rum and raisin fudge follows.
Finish: Sesame oil and peanut butter, with cocoa nibs and peppermint leaves.
Comment: Grocers with polished shelves with jars of herbs, teas and dried fruits.
Score: 8.8
