Nose: Very gentle at first. All butter shortbread, sunflower oil and Chantilly cream. Honeydew melon, barley sugar sweets and toffee apples. Then minerality with hot stones.
Palate: That honeydew melon note hits first, then huge waves of chocolate, toffee and chocolate coated apples. Candy coated almonds and cider apple.
Finish: Heat, chili spice, but water helps bring out that sweetness from the nose.
Comment: An interesting whisky and one for saving for a cold snap.

Taster
Nose: Really open, forward with tropical fruits; bananas, papaya and pineapple. A savoury note comes through, with a salted meat aroma.
Palate: That salted ham note opens things up – then a light fruitiness comes through. Some envelops all of this, but never gets out of hand.
Finish: Long finish, with the ham note the prevailing flavour.
Comment: Some interesting notes here and there, just looking for a little spark. The balance of savoury and sweet however is excellent.
Score: 7.7
