The Glenronach

Allardice 18 Years Old

ABV 46%

A port finish? The port or sherry influence is patent. It has conveyed a lot of sweetness, maybe too much. Alongside with oakiness (but a sweet one, nothing astringent).

Taster

Nose: Big sweet oloroso impact, raisin and a hint of sulphur adding a lift. There's walnut, sticky toffee pudding, coffee bean & black vetiver on top of stewed apple.

Palate: Solid toffee-ed start. Super ripe black fruits. Balancing tannins. Robust weight and deep nuttiness shifts into treacle toffee.

Finish: Spicy.

Comment: Deep, layered and sweet with great balance. Seek it out.
