Taster

Nose: Smoke oily fish with a fruit compote topping

Palate: Oily mouth feel, but relatively gentle peat, tar and fish mix.

Finish: The whisky coats the mouth so the taste fades fast then lingers on low volume.

Comment: Proof that we're not quite scraping the bottom of the Port Ellen barrel just yet.

Score: 7.2

Taster

Nose: Grassy. Dry herbs in the meadow. A faint bonfire smoke. Earl grey tea. Delivers more spices when well\raerated. Cinnamon. Quite perfumy.

Palate: Surprisingly sweet at start. Smoky. Then a spicy burst kicks up the tastebuds.A bit brutal.

Finish: Warm,slightly burning.

Comment: Anenticing nose,a gentle feel but the alcohol spoils the pleasure. It needs a good dash of water to be drinkable\rbut then loses some aromatic impact.
