Nose: Rich and full bodied nose, reminicent of walking into a very old book shop or dusty country church. Polished oak and vintage silks. There's some fruit here, stewed plums and baked apples with dark forest honey.
Palate: Plenty of depth to this, with creamy goat's cheese stuffed into Medjool dates then wrapped in aged Parma ham. Hints of rock salt and menthol. There's cigar smoke and ash here too.
Finish: Dries swiftly leaving wood ash and dark honey.
Comment: Impressive, with plenty going on.
Score: 8.5
Taster
Nose: Some seriously robust aromas going on here with old leather books, green apple laces, Dundee cake and maraschino cherries with a dusting of marzipan here.
Palate: A bitter sweetness is constantly evolving and swirling around with under ripe banana skin, figs, cherry leather and pistachio biscotti. Tobacco leaves, struck matches and toasted rosemary follow.
Finish: A sweetness rapidly dissipates into a chalky texture you get from paracetamol.
Comment: A bit of a full-on debate on the tongue to be honest.
Score: 8.7
