Sophisticated and seductive, but I always find it a little lacking in substance.
12 Years Old, Special Reserve
Republic of Ireland
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Perfumy, grassy. Sesame seeds. Data-like sweetness.
Palate: Light, elegant, sweetish, and raisiny, with some sherry.
Finish: Lightly spicy, gingery.
Comment: Sophisticated and seductive, but I always find it a little lacking in substance.
Nose: A rigid backbone of pot still is softened by massive and quite startling fruit arrival.
Palate: Remains grain orientated, though quite mouth watering.
Finish: Pretty dry and thin, but just enough sweet oil to keep the oak in check.
Comment: The injection of rich, exotic fruit along with the bigger pot still feel improves it almost beyond measure. The finish is still weak, though.
