Republic of Ireland
Standard (Distillery or blended)
Nose: Soft, very grassy and linseedy.
Palate: Remarkably syrupy. Very sweet and spicy. Lemon grass.
Finish: Lemon sherbet fizzing on the tongue.
Comment: Deserves points for daring to be so sweet.
Nose: Intense, lightly fragrant nose: some grassiness and juicy fruits but this is a prickly character that's more austere than it initially seems.
Palate: Gutsy and zesty with an oily crunch mid-palate. Light and straight down the middle of the palate.
Finish: Zesty, peppery. Little short.
Comment: Have with Guinness to soften the slightly hard edges.
