Nose: Blooming gorse, pink lemonade, icing sugar, and baking white bread. Nutmeg, white chocolate sauce, and rum raisin. With time, caramel and chocolate biscuit, too.
Palate: Medium-full. Chewy toffee, milk chocolate, raisins, and marmalade. Cinnamon toast and a little lime zest, too. Raspberry jam and peanut butter.
Finish: Medium. The marmalade notes linger.
Comment: A solider highlander that balances spirit and wood well.
Score: 7.9
Taster
Nose: Medjool dates, demerara sugar, woody cinnamon, and a hint of mushroom. Then fresh strawberry and raspberry with meringue and vanilla cream, and hints of grapefruit and kiwi.
Palate: Medium-full. Caramel-drizzled sponge cake. Summer fruit compote with more vanilla-rich cream. A little fresh fig. A slightly savoury nuttiness, like toasted hazelnuts, and hints of orange zest.
Finish: Medium, on the summer fruits and caramel.
Comment: An easy-going fruit-forward dram that makes me think of summer.
Score: 8.2
