William Larue Weller

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

ABV 58.95%

A fierce bourbon. A (too) long maturation has hardened the palate. Too bad as the nose promised roundness.

Tasting Notes

Taster

Nose: Intense. Demerara sweetness. Maple syrup. Pecan pie. Floral (narcissus).Old polished oak floor. Opens on toffee.

Palate: Not as smooth as expected. The spicy burst invasion gives no mercy to the sweet notes found on the nose.Oak is obviously at the wheel.

Finish: Dry and spicy but soothes down on caramel notes.

Comment: A fierce bourbon. A (too) long maturation has hardened the palate. Too bad as the nose promised roundness.

Score: 7.5

Taster

Nose: Sweet. Nutmeg, oak, high citrus, almond, plum, yew sap.Great with a drop of water.

Palate: Floral and scented. Rosewater, plum jam and honey.Scented, dare I say feminine (probably not).Light tannin. Very good flow.

Finish: Long and honeyed.

Comment: The gentler side of American whiskey. Well worth a look.
