Nose: Dry. Turf/turned earth, smoke, green sticks. With water, apple becomes the dominant aroma, with lemon, crisp (nutty) malt, tea and oak.
Palate: Quite intense to start, but opens well. Apple and nut, dried fruit, spice, ginger biscuits, pepper and dry wood. Light and dry.
Finish: Good length but maybe a little woody.
Comment: The driest and leanest of this flight, but has some complexity.
Score: 7.8

Nose: Lemony. Fragrant.
Palate: Tongue-coating. Spicy. Intense. Victoria sponge. Marmalade. Oranges and lemons.
Finish: Big, zesty. Long.
Comment: The typical fruitiness of the Yoichi whiskies, but less peat than I remember.
Score: 7.8
